Jackson Michigan's Trusted Indoor Air Quality Experts
Whether you live in an apartment, townhome or single family home, an old home or are building a new home, there are many ways to protect and improve your indoor air quality. Indoor pollution sources that release gases or particles into the air are a primary cause of indoor air quality problems in homes. Inadequate ventilation can increase indoor pollutant levels by not bringing in enough fresh outdoor air to dilute emissions from indoor sources and by not carrying indoor air pollutants out of the home. High temperature and humidity levels can also increase concentrations of some pollutants. If you’re looking to improve the air quality in your home, the experts at Aspen One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning are here to help!
Jackson, Michigan Indoor Air Quality Services
Air Quality Testing
Finding out the quality of your home’s air is best left to the professionals at Aspen One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning. We have the tools and expertise to test your air quality and we provide comprehensive information and recommendations on how to improve your air quality if you live in or around Jackson County Michigan.
Dehumidifiers
Humid air can be a good thing, but if it gets too humid, it can also cause condensation, which can lead to mold and rot. Condensation can also damage electronics and wooden casings. High humidity can also worsen respiratory illnesses, increase the risk of heat stroke and exhaustion, and worsen allergies. In this case, having a dehumidifier installed can help make sure excess moisture is removed from the air.
Our experts can help by installing a dehumidifier to help you control the moisture levels in your home, thus improving your indoor air quality.
Humidifiers
Overly dry air can cause dry, itchy skin, chapped lips, dry hair, respiratory problems, headaches, sinus problems, and irritated eyes. It can also lead to static electricity shocks, dehydration, and other physical issues. Not to mention dry air can damage wooden furniture, walls, warped wooden floors, and warped window and doorframes. Dry air pulls moisture from wood, causing it to crack, splinter, and shrink over time. In this case, having a humidifier installed can help control the dryness of your home’s air.
High Efficiency Filters
Designed to protect the components of your HVAC system from large dust particles and other debris, filters are generally about one inch thick. However, a high-efficiency filter provides more filtration and removes not only small dust particles but mold spores, tobacco smoke, viruses, and other contaminants. Your family enjoys a cleaner, healthier indoor air.
Germicidal UV Lights
Gain a cleaner indoor environment and protect your Jackson, Michigan home from dangerous mold and mildew growth with UV air cleaner installation by the experts at Aspen One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning. UV air cleaners neutralize airborne pollutants such as mold, bacteria, and viruses, preventing their spread throughout your home.
Air Purifiers
If you’re looking for a way to improve the air quality in your home without replacing or installing additional machinery, a whole-house air purifier might be the answer. These structures clean air using ultrasonic and electrostatic technologies, removing particles larger than 0.3 microns before passing them through the system. A whole-house air purifier cleans the air using a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter. The filter is installed into your ventilation system, allowing purified air to be circulated through your house. Purification may also be accomplished via physical barriers or electronic (ion) filtering. Electronic filters use increased voltage to draw and collect particles, whereas physical barriers use a standard filter.
Air Exchangers
Air exchangers are installed in most new homes today and they work with the existing HVAC system to ensure fresh air is coming into the home. At the core of the air exchanger there are small passage ways where the air gets warmed up with the stale air from inside the home. The stale air gets sent to the outside while the new air is sent to the inside. This keeps your home’s air quality stable and ensures you have good air flow into and out of your home.
Duct Cleaning
Why should you have your air ducts professionally cleaned? According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the air inside homes can be several more times polluted than the air outside! Considering how much time we spend indoors; you don’t want to end up increasing your sensitivity to indoor air pollutants. Reach out to our air quality experts at Aspen One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning today for more information or to schedule your duct cleaning!

Tips From The HVAC Professionals
Frequently Asked Questions
What Size Of HVAC System Should I have?
Contrary to what you may believe, there is no set parameter for sizing a system to the precise square footage of your home. Because homes are all built so differently, your home’s HVAC system will depend on its specific construction.
To determine the size HVAC system you need, you need to have a licensed HVAC professional from Aspen One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning evaluate your home. Our expert technicians will examine your home’s layout and make recommendations depending on your home’s individual needs. Many factors go into calculating the size of a furnace or air conditioning system your home needs. Factors include the size of your home, the number of windows in your home and which direction they face, elements surrounding your home, and expectations your family has for the comfort of your home.
With all of this information, Aspen One Hour can propose a range of energy-efficient options for perfectly heating and cooling your space all year long. Call us today for your appointment!
Can I Increase The Efficiency Of My HVAC System?
Increasing the efficiency of your home’s HVAC system can be relatively easy. Most importantly, be sure to change your filters regularly and with the Aspen Comfort Club membership, you have peace of mind knowing that your filters are replaced at your annual tune-ups! Also, make sure your thermostat is set at higher temperatures in the summer and lower temperatures in the winter. It doesn’t take the body long to adjust to incremental changes of 2-5 degrees, and these changes can save you a lot of money on your energy bills.
Lastly, you’ll want to make sure you keep blinds closed on windows that let in direct sunlight, or use curtains to shade your home while still letting in some light. Though natural light is something we all crave, keeping your blinds and curtains closed during the hottest days of the year, especially if you are not home, can drastically decrease the effort your AC system is required to make.
How Often Do I Need Maintenance On My System?
Regular maintenance on your HVAC system should be performed twice a year. The licensed professionals at Aspen One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning recommend having your system serviced in the spring before the weather heats up again, and in the fall before the weather cools down. If you’re a member of our Comfort Club, this is included in your pre-paid services along with many other services we offer.
Having regular maintenance performed on your system allows for a longer system life, higher efficiency, and proactive service to stop issues before they happen. Call us today at (517) 879-2049 to schedule your maintenance or to join our Comfort Club!
How Does A Ductless Heat Pump Work?
In older homes that either have boiler or baseboard heating, there may not have ductwork run throughout the home, making it difficult and costly to add a traditional central air conditioning system. Therefore, a ductless heat pump, sometimes called a mini-split air conditioner or a ductless air conditioner, is a cooling system that does not utilize ducts for moving treated air throughout the space. It takes warm air from one area and moving it to another. There is an outdoor compressor unit as well as air handling units indoors to allow the system to function.
The heat is transferred through the system. It goes through the cycle of evaporation and condensation. A refrigerant substance is used through a compressor pump to help achieve this cooled air. The system contains two heat exchange coils. One of those contains the necessary refrigerant material. The other works to evaporate it. This allows the refrigerant to absorb the heat from the area. This happens during the evaporation process. They work to maintain the specific temperature a person desires by using a thermostat to control the movement of the air between the coil systems. If you’re looking to upgrade your home’s comfort but don’t have ductwork, a heat pump can be an excellent option. Why Is Indoor Air Quality Important And What Can I Do To Improve It?
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the condition of the air within and around homes/buildings, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of the occupants. Good IAQ implies that the air is free from pollutants and contributes to a comfortable and safe living or working environment.
How Can I Improve My IAQ?
